Kosher spot-Flatbush
The kosher Spot was kosher certified by the "kehila" kosher, a Flatbush based kosher certifier closely associated with the KIC of Flatbush.
Their Mashgiach visited the premises once a week on the average, 'cause the owner is a "frum-yid". The Mashgiach never went through the owners records to see what he purchased nor what were the quantities he was selling-to ascertain if it added up correctly.
The kosher spot was a take-out and did many "kidushim" in the Borough-Park Flatbush area. It seems the owner teemed up with another oultlet that the owner's reliabilty in kashrus has been questionably for a number of years. The game went as follows; They alledgedly purchased from "West Side" a meat distributor certified by the OU (sells Glatt, non-Glatt, non-kosher) the Rubashkin non-glatt (aka-Zeilingold pink label) and repackaged it in Kosher-Spot packaging with Kehila Kosher as the certifier. The packaging was not usually done at the kosher spot facility but at the other partner's facility.
It was not only flanken, but all cuts of beef. The Kosher spot also distributed to numerous smaller facilities in the Borough Park & Flatbush area "the Rubashkin non-glatt as glatt"
NOTE: This shenanigan can only be done with Rubashkin based products, 'cause Rubashkin is the only one that sells Glatt, Non-Glatt, Treif etc. ALLE & INTERNATIONAL only sell Glatt beef.
The owner most probably was aware that Rubashkin does put on a glatt KAJ etc on top of a non-glatt label of Zeilingold (by Rubashkin it's only a label that is the difference)-so why can't he do the same?
We are somewhat at a loss what type of Hashgocha was the OU utilizing at West side distributors. Also how many others are doing the same thing even today?
Did Kehila & the OU go through the records of West Side?
Kosher spot purchased some beef directly from Rubashkin but mostly Poultry is what was purchased from Rubashkin.
Over the years most scandels in the meat was by Rubashkin e.g. the discovery of PETA videos.
WE HOPE NOBODY IS FOOLED BY THIS NEW "LABEL" CALLED "SUPREME" it's another sham. The Hashgocha of Rabbi Weismandel did not remove the requirement that certain kosher certifiers are enforcing "a caterer must kasher if doing a job where Rubashkin product was used prior to this affair. Others are being more lenient and only requiring "aino-ben-yomo" from Rubashkin.

Yudel Shain is a liar and a shakedown artist who is not to be trusted. He was turned down by the Rubashkin from being the sole distributor of Rubashkin products, and has since then not stopped from trying to exact revenge. May G-D bless the Rubashkin family, a family of true Mesiras Nefesh and extreme Chesed, and may their business grow and prosper.

Although I am no Lubavitcher, nor do I eat Rubashkin beef (or any other beef for that matter) for a while now, I would like to just make it known that Rabbi Shain, although surely a good person in many ways, is coming with a political agenda, more than a Kashrus one.
I do not defend anything that goes on at Rubashkin, nor do I vouch for them, but I personally corresponded with rabbi Shain about this, and his problem is not with Kashrus, rather it is with his position that Lubavitcher Shechita is unacceptable.
People who read his posts or newsletter should be aware of that fact - I only wish that there was an interest in Kashrus and not politics that promted his concern.

Question: Are you saying the KS owner was hiding his identity behind someone else because trust in him was compromised? I don't understand how that works, isn't the owner known to be associated with the KS store?

I understand the KC mashgiach saw some number on a box that raised his suspicion, presumably at the KS store. Rubashkin Zeilingold is even according to Rubashkin "not-glatt.
When the need arises and they are short on Glatt, "R" will put a kaj or some other glatt label to cover up the zeilingold non-glatt label and sell it as glatt (just like "KS" figured out to do the same.
